Worcester, MA (November 16, 2012) - On Friday, November 16, 2012 at approximately 3:35 PM a Worcester Police Officer working a private detail at Worcester Academy called out for assistance with regard to a possible carjacking. At this time the detail officer observed a black Acura drive by him as he was standing on Dorchester Street. A male in the rear passenger seat of this vehicle placed himself half way out of the rear window and yelled for help to the officer. The officer then observed the male either jump out of the moving vehicle or get pushed out of the moving vehicle on Dorchester Street by Mendon Street. The Acura continued driving with a maroon car following it at a close distance.
Around the same time that officers received the request for help from the detail officer, the west side patrol cars received a call to an Austin Street apartment reporting that a kidnapping had just occurred.
Officers arrived at the Austin Street incident were informed by witnesses that a male drove up and parked in front of the Austin Street apartment in a black Acura. The male exited the vehicle and went inside the apartment for a few minutes. As the male was exiting the apartment he was met at the bottom of the front stairs by two tall black males, one of them was in possession of a handgun. The two males walked the victim back to his own vehicle. The victim was placed in the rear seat accompanied by one of the suspects. The other suspect, the male with the gun, entered the driver’s seat and drove off. A maroon vehicle, which was parked behind the Acura drove off and followed the Acura. It was unknown how many males were inside the maroon vehicle.
The Acura and the maroon vehicles were the same two vehicles which were seen on Dorchester Street. After the victim jumped or was pushed from the vehicle he ran towards the detail officer who was now running towards the victim. The detail officer called out with the description of the two vehicles and their direction of travel. The two vehicles were last seen driving on Dorchester Street towards Grafton Street, traveling at a high rate of speed.
The suspect received an injury to his leg; the detail officer called for Worcester EMS and eventually transported him to a nearby hospital. The victim is currently being treated for minor injuries.
Within minutes of police arriving in the Dorchester Street area the black Acura was discovered abandoned on nearby Park Terrace. Police arriving at that scene were informed by witnesses that they observed the Acura park abruptly with a maroon vehicle driving up to the side. Several males were seen exiting the Acura and entering the maroon vehicle. The maroon vehicle then drove off heading towards Heywood Street.
