Worcester, MA (May 17, 2017) – On Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at approximately 8:43 PM, Worcester Police responded to a report of a fight in the area of 472 Lincoln Street. Upon the officers arrival they discovered that two 24-year-old males were suffering from stab wounds. One male was stabbed several times while the other male received a stab wound to his finger. The more seriously injured male was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The injuries are considered to be non-life threatening. The second male was treated at the scene and declined further medical attention.
Police at the scene were told that the more seriously injured male was in a verbal argument with the male suspect and that it escalated when the suspect produced a knife and started swinging it at the victim. The second male attempted to break up the fight when he was cut on the finger. After the fight, the suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.
WPD detectives arrived and began to interview witnesses. Police discovered that the parties involved were all known to each other. As a result the suspect’s identity was obtained.
The suspect was identified by numerous witnesses as the man with the knife. At this time investigators were able to establish probable cause. An arrest warrant was obtained for two counts of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (knife).
