Worcester, MA (July 24, 2017) – On Monday, July 24, 2017 at approximately 6:53 PM, Worcester Police responded to the area of 120 Austin Street for a report of gunshots being fired. Upon the officers arrival they met with witnesses. Officers learned that several gunshots were fired and that possibly two males were seen running from the area. One witness believed that the shots came from the area of Austin and Newbury Streets. Officers searched the area and did locate ballistic evidence. The Crime Scene Unit was called to the scene to collect the evidence.
As officers were canvassing the area information was received that a 22-year-old male had just walked into an emergency room of a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower extremity.
Officers responded to the emergency room and met with the victim. The male was conscious and alert. His wound is considered non-life threatening and will be released after treatment.
