Worcester, MA (March 11, 2013) - On Sunday March 10, 2013 at approximately 5:36 PM, Worcester Police responded to the area of 216 Chandler Street for a report of gunshots fired. Responding police were informed that there were several males involved in this incident. Upon the officers' arrival, they met with several witnesses. One witness stated that he was in his motor vehicle, traveling west on Chandler Street, when he observed two males with handguns running onto Mason Street from Chandler Street. The witness was able to get a good look at one of the suspects just before he heard several shots being fired.
Police at the scene received information that one of the suspects had fled into a nearby establishment. This individual who entered the establishment matched the suspect description that the witness in the motor vehicle gave police. Police entered the establishment and were lead to the suspect’s location.
Police encountered the suspect sitting at a table. The suspect was identified as Antonio Kinlow, 19-years-old of 30 Cedar Street, Worcester. Mr. Kinlow was escorted out of the establishment and subsequently identified by witnesses as one of the two males running on Chandler Street with handguns.
A victim met with police at the scene and informed them that he was the intended target. According to the victim, he was in his motor vehicle with three of his friends. They were traveling on Mason Street, (approaching Chandler Street) when two vehicles traveling in the opposite direction swerved in front of their vehicle causing them to stop. A man jumped out of one of the vehicles while two males exited the other vehicle. According to the victim, it was at this point that several shots were fired at his vehicle. The three passengers in the victim’s vehicle exited the car and fled the scene on foot. These males did not come back when police arrived and their identities are unknown at this time. In an attempt to flee, the victim put his vehicle in reverse and started to back out of the area until his vehicle was disabled after being struck by a bullet. The suspect vehicles then drove off.
Worcester Police Investigators secured the scene and discovered numerous spent shell casings. A search of the area also discovered two parked vehicles with bullet hole damage.
Mr. Kinlow was placed under arrest and charged with Armed Assault with Intent to Murder, Possession of a Firearm without a License to Carry and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building.
A search of the area did not produce the firearm. Police continued to search for the suspects and their vehicles with negative results.
