Worcester, MA (March 28, 2013) - The Worcester Police Accident Reconstruction Team concluded its investigation into the March 1, 2013 motor vehicle accident that involved a gasoline tanker truck. The accident occurred at 1:57 PM in the area of 322 West Boylston Street.
The operator of the 1998 Chevrolet Malibu had been identified as 18-year-old Raymond Gouley of Paxton. Mr. Gouley was traveling south on West Boylston Street when he lost control, crossed the median and collided head on with a tanker truck carrying 1,386 gallons of gasoline. Mr. Gouley received life threatening injuries and was initially listed in critical condition.
As a result of this investigation, Mr. Gouley was issued citations for Negligent Operation so as to Endanger, Sending Electronic Messages While Operating a Motor Vehicle, Marked Lane Violation and Operating a Motor Vehicle at a Speed That Was Greater Than Reasonable.
Mr. Gouley was estimated to be traveling at approximately 60 MPH on West Boylston Street just prior to impact. Evidence also suggested that Mr. Gouley was texting moments before the collision.
To date, Mr. Gouley’s condition has been upgraded to stable condition.
