Worcester, MA (April 28, 2017)- On Friday, April 28, 2017 at approximately 1242 PM, Worcester Police received a call from Family Dollar employees at 205 Chandler St. They said that a male had just been caught shoplifting from the store. When confronted by employees, he began to physically fight with them. During the fight, the suspect pulled out a knife and threatened them with it. He fled the area.
A description of the male was broadcast over the radio. The male, later identified as Angel Lopez-Ramos, forty-three years old of 25 Queen St, was stopped in the area by police. He was identified by the victims and placed under arrest. Upon searching him incident to arrest, officers discovered a small bag of what appeared to be crack cocaine, a folding knife, and the stolen items from the store. Mr. Lopez-Ramos is charged with Armed Robbery, Possession of a Class B Substance, and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.
Mr. Lopez-Ramos will be arraigned at the Worcester County District Courthouse on Monday, May 1, 2017.
