On Tuesday June 12th, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the area of 1039 Grafton St for a report of a pedestrian accident. When officers arrived, they noticed the pedestrian victim, Gabriella Lowell, twenty years old, unconscious in the roadway. A blue Nissan Pathfinder was stopped near her. An ambulance arrived and quickly transported Ms. Lowell to the hospital. The Accident Reconstruction Unit and the Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the 2006 Pathfinder, which was occupied by a twenty-one-year-old male, was traveling northwest on Grafton St. Ms. Lowell was crossing Grafton St from east to west and appeared to be in the marked crosswalk. The Pathfinder struck Ms. Lowell on her right side with the front bumper and inflicted serious injuries. Ms. Lowell was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
The crash is under investigation.
