On August 7th, 2018, Worcester Police received a call at about 6:40 PM for a report of a stabbing in the area of City Hall. Officers received information from a witness that someone involved in the stabbing was at 4 Front St. Officers responded and located a victim, a thirty-two-year-old Worcester man, who described a suspect who had just fled south on Main St.
The victim said that he had been stabbed in the upper chest area, but his injuries were superficial. Officers were told that he same suspect had committed a second stabbing. Officers broadcast the description of the suspect, who was later identified as David Burgos, thirty-five-years-old of 32 Irving St. Mr. Burgos was stopped near the corner of Franklin St and Foster St by another officer.
Officers conducted a show-up, in which a witness identified Mr. Burgos as the man who had committed the stabbing. He was placed under arrest. Officers were told that another stabbing victim was at the hospital. An ambulance was driving on Front St when they were flagged down at the corner of Main St and Front St by this second victim, a thirty-five-year-old Worcester man. The second victim had been stabbed in the neck, and was brought to the hospital by the ambulance.
Mr. Burgos was charged with two counts of Armed Assault to Murder and two counts of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. He will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
