At approximately 6:23 PM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to 40 Berkmans St for a report of a male who had pointed a gun at his teenage neighbor. The call stated that the suspect was currently leaning out his bedroom at 40 Berkmans St and yelling. Officers confirmed that the victim was safe, and set up a perimeter outside 40 Berkmans St.
Officers could observe a male, who fit the description given by the victim, poking his head out of the second floor window of 40 Berkmans St. Police ordered the male to come out of the front door of the residence with his hands up. Kevin Progri, twenty-years-old, came out of the residence with his hands up and surrendered to police.
Officers conducted an investigation, and determined that Mr. Progri had threatened his teenage neighbor by pointing a shotgun at him. The victim took the bus home from a high school after-school program, and was walking to his house when he saw Mr. Progri near the corner of Carlisle and Berkmans St. Mr. Progri pointed the shotgun at the victim and said, “Get off my block! “ Officers were invited into Mr. Progri’s residence, and located a shotgun, shells, and body armor.
Kevin Progri was placed under arrest and is charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Use of a Firearm in a Felony, and Use of Body Armor in a Felony. He will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
