On September 2nd, 2019 at about 5 AM, Worcester Police responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Florence St in which one driver had fled the scene. After a motor vehicle crash, an operator was observed running away and officers were checking the area for him. One of the officers patrolling the area pulled behind a black Toyota Corolla on Florence St, and the operator of the Corolla began to accelerate and speed in an attempt to evade the officer. The officer eventually caught up with the vehicle at the intersection of Gates and Hollis St and pulled it over.
When additional officers arrived, they approached the vehicle. Both occupants, Travis Tolson, twenty-seven-years-old of Truro St, and Deon Barber, forty-seven-years-old of Norfolk St, were bending down in what appeared to be an attempt to hide something. Officers removed both of them from the vehicle and conducted a frisk of the two occupants and the vehicle. Officers located a loaded revolver underneath the driver’s seat, and neither male had a license to carry firearms. They were both placed under arrest and charged with Carrying a Firearm without an FID, Carrying Ammunition without an FID, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm. They will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
