On Friday, November 30, 2018, members of the US Marshall Fugitive Apprehension Task Force, working on a tip, went to 50 Oriol Drive (Quality Inn) in an attempt to locate a male that had an active Fugitive from Justice Warrant (shooting incident). The warrant for his arrest was issued out of Nassau County, New York. The male was identified a Carlos Lopez, 31-years-old with an unknown address.
The task force is made up of members of the US Marshall’s office, Massachusetts State Police and Worcester Police. Prior to entering the hotel room, the task force joined up with a WPD K-9 Unit, WPD Operations officers and members of the WPD Detective Bureau.
Officers knocked on the hotel room door for several minutes. A male eventually answered and opened the door. The male was identified as Carlos Lopez. Mr. Lopez was immediately secured and placed in handcuffs. There were two other males inside the room that were asked to step out into the hallway. Both males complied. The men were also secured for safety measures. The males were identified as Ronald Mendoza, 26-years-old of 183 Dartmouth Street, Hempstead, NY and Jeremy Ramirez, 20-years-old of 89 Merrick Avenue, Baldwin, NY. Both men were discovered to have full extradition Fugitive from Justice Warrants out of Nassau County, NY.
Officers entered the room to see if anyone else remained inside. There were no other people in the room. While in the room, officers observed in plain view, a clear plastic baggie that contained numerous individual wrapped baggies that contained cocaine. In addition, two plastic containers were found that had large chunks of potential cocaine in them. At this time officers secured the room and applied for a search warrant.
The warrant was issued. The search produced $3,676 in cash, approximately 242.4 grams of cocaine, and approximately 122.7 grams of heroin.
All three men were placed under arrest for the Fugitive from Justice Warrants, Trafficking in Class B Substance (cocaine) greater than 200 grams and Trafficking in Heroin between 100-199 grams. All three were arraigned today at the Worcester County District Courthouse.
