On June 17, 2020 at approximately 9:25 PM Worcester police received a Shotspotter activation in the area of Illinois Street and Gates Street. Shotspotter is a gunfire detection system that alerts police of the location of an incident using sensors. Officer searched the area of University Park and located ballistic evidence. A short time later, police were notified that a residence on Southgate Street was hit by a bullet. The bullet had traveled through the first floor window. There were no injuries reported. Officers were able to gather additional evidence in the area.
The investigation continues.
