On July 3rd, 2019 at about 7:50 PM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to O’Connor’s Restaurant at 1160 West Boylston St for a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers saw several patrons holding down a male, later identified as Carlos Asencio, twenty-eight-years-old of Derry, NH. Officers also observed a thirty-one-year-old female victim, who had been stabbed. Officers struggled with Mr. Asencio, placed him in handcuffs, and delivered medical aid to the badly-wounded female victim, who was brought to the hospital by ambulance.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Mr. Asencio entered the restaurant, located the female victim, and stabbed her. Mr. Asencio and the female victim had previously dated. A male patron of the restaurant rushed Mr. Asencio and attempted to help the victim. The male patron suffered a non-life-threatening stab wound during the struggle. Other restaurant patrons assisted and held Mr. Asencio down until police arrived. Detectives and the Crime Scene Unit arrived to investigate and process the scene.
The female victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Mr. Asencio is charged with Murder, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Armed Assault with Intent to Murder, Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace, Resisting Arrest, and an outstanding warrant.
