On Sunday, February 24, 2019 at approximately 11:47 PM the Worcester Police Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the vicinity of 23 Vernon Street for a report of a serious accident. At the scene paramedics attended to a 36-year-old male victim of Worcester who was pinned between a 2009 Lincoln Town Car and a 2013 Nissan Juke. The victim received serious injuries to both of his leg and was rushed to a local hospital.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the 2009 Lincoln Town Car was traveling west on Vernon Street heading toward Kelley Square when the operated veered to the right. The operator proceeded to strike the pedestrian who was emptying items from the back of the 2013 Nissan Juke. The pedestrian was pinned against the Nissan. The force of the impact pushed the Nissan Juke forward into a parked 2006 Toyota Sienna which as a result pushed a parked 2004 Chevy Pick-up. Investigators noted that there was no evidence of braking at the scene.
Officers interviewed the operator of the Lincoln Town Car who was identified as 22-year-old Jeffrey Pillco of Worcester. During the interview, officers noticed a strong smell of alcohol emanating from his breath. As a result of the investigation, Mr. Pillco of 20 Granite Street, Worcester was charged with Operating Under the Influence of Liquor and Causing Serious Injury.
