Male Shot on Grafton St after Attempted Robbery

For Immediate Release: 2/20/2018 10:02 pm

On February 19th at about 10:30 PM, Worcester Police officers were dispatched to the area of 1280 Grafton St for a report of two males fighting. Shortly afterwards, a call was placed for a gunshot victim at the BeeZee Gas Station at 177 Southwest Cutoff.

Officers responded and delivered medical treatment to the forty-two-year-old victim, who was bleeding from a gunshot wound to his left thigh. The victim said that as was leaving the Accra Girls restaurant on Grafton St, a male came up to him and demanded money from him. The victim charged the suspect, who fired one round that struck the victim in the leg. They briefly struggled, and the suspect ran away. The victim drove to the gas station and called police.  The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. He has since been released.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 27 years old, 5'11" tall, 150 pounds, with facial hair, wearing a black jacket with the hood up, and brown pants. This investigation is ongoing.
