For Immediate Release: 7/9/2018 1:35 pm
On Saturday July 7th at about 6:30 PM, Worcester Police were dispatched to an armed robbery at the Dollar General store at 1049 Main Street. The reporter told the officers that the suspect, who was well-known to employees and had been previously banned from the store, walked over to the cell phone area and grabbed two phones. The store employee advised him to leave, at which point he took out a knife and held it in a threatening manner toward the employee. The suspect ran out of the store with the phones.
Officers on scene got the description of the suspect and broadcast it over the radio. About ten minutes after the initial call came out, two officers working the Summer Impact Detail spotted a male who matched the description on the corner of Main and Beaver St. A show-up was conducted, and the victim identified Vencenzo Brancaccio, thirty-one-years-old of Worcester, as the male who robbed the store. Mr. Brancaccio also had an outstanding warrant, and was placed under arrest for Armed Robbery and the warrant. A knife was found on his person. He will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
