The mission of the Veterans' Services Division is to provide eligible veterans and their families, who are residents of Worcester, with immediate financial aid, medical assistance and referral services on issues such as housing, employment opportunities, health and education.
Moreover, this office provides financial and medical assistance to all wartime veterans and their families who are determined to be in need and who qualify for this assistance under M.G.L. Chapter 115.
Indirect services include referral of veterans to the Veteran's Administration, or the Social Security office for a more permanent solution to their needs. It also refers veterans to job employment agencies, special utility programs for the needy, food banks and shelter.
Additionally, our staff serves as liaison to the Worcester Veterans' Council and the Armed Forces Committee. The City, through Veterans' Services, also sponsors the Veterans' Day and Memorial Day parades, as well as serving as caretakers of all veterans' memorials and graves.
