Youth Council

Youth CouncilThe Worcester Youth Council was created to provide young people with a direct connection to local government and to serve as the official voice of Worcester's youth.

Eligibility Requirements: High school students, ages 14-19, residing in the City of Worcester.

Council Composition: Nineteen (19) members including one (1) representative from each of the eight (8) public high schools, six (6) private schools, two (2) charter high schools in Worcester and three (3) at-large representatives.

Meetings: The Worcester Youth Council will meet bi-weekly on Thursday from 3:30 PM until 4:30 PM.

How to Join

High School administrators and teachers from each of the high schools located in the City of Worcester will be contacted to recommend three (3) students to represent their school on the City of Worcester Youth Council. The selection committee will review the recommendations and choose one (1) representative from each school for a total of sixteen (16).

Recommendation Format: Student information form, recommendation letter, commitment form and parental consent form.

The Council will also have three (3) at-large seats open to any youth who resides in the City of Worcester but attends high school outside of the city or is home schooled. These candidates will be chosen based on the strength of an application.

Application Format: Student information form, essay, letter of recommendation, commitment form and parental consent form.

  • The application deadline for the 2013-2014 Youth Council has passed. Information related to the 2014-2015 Youth Council term will be posted when available.
