Nowruz (New Day): Nowruz, or "new day" in Persian, known as the Iranian New Year, is an ancient festival that marks the beginning of spring and celebrates the rebirth of nature. And naturally, it has a lot to do with fresh, green foods just beginning to poke out of the ground that remind us winter is not, in fact, eternal. It has been celebrated for over 3000 years in countries such as: Iran, Iraqi Kurdistan, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Albania, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan & Uzbekistan. Haft Seen is the traditional table setting of Nowruz in Iran. The setting includes seven items starting with the letter S or Seen (س) in Persian alphabet. Please join us to celebrate and learn more about Iranian New Year with your friends at the Worcester Senior Center.
