New members are always welcome! We are reading Follow the River by James Alexander Thom a novel based on the true story of Mary Ingles, a white settler in Virginia in 1755. When her settlement was attacked by Indians, a pregnant Ingles, along with her two children, her sister-in-law, and a male settler, was kidnapped, and taken far from home. She was ultimately able to escape from captivity, though to do so she had to abandon her children. This describes her journey along the Ohio River, accompanied by another, half-mad woman captive. In March we are reading Caleb’s Crossing by Geraldine Brooks.
