Programming Lead

(Assistant Head Rec/Club Lead)

Division of Youth Opportunities

The City of Worcester Division of Youth Opportunities is seeking qualified candidates to be Programming Leads for Recreation Worcester. The programming lead staff will serve the roles of providing programming and curriculum in the areas of athletics, arts and academics to the Recreation Worcester participants. Responsibilities for this position will include executing programming, communicating policy and procedures to volunteers and youth, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and working with city employees to ensure quality of programming. The qualified candidates will have the ability to perform work with considerable independent judgment, creativity, and initiative.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Human Services or related field and/or 1 year of experience working with youth development; a combination of experience and education that provide the required knowledge, abilities and skills will be considered
  • 1 year of experience working in a school or program setting
  • Experience developing out-of-school-time activities

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check (CORI & SORI)
  • Must have an updated physical in the past 12 months
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with community partners and families
  • Ability to work independently and in a group setting
  • Ability to perform work with good judgment, creativity, and initiative

Preferred Qualifications: bilingual candidate; ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations, organizations, and interests; ability to work with minimal supervision; knowledge of local youth serving agencies and other community resources that may serve Recreation Worcester youth and families; ability to work with students with special educational or emotional needs

Salary: $13.00 per hour, Part Time, 10-15 hours/week
