The City of Worcester’s Department of Energy and Asset Management seeks candidates for the position of Chief Clerk of Works. This position performs varied construction project management, report writing, reconciliations, energy & efficiency analysis, and a variety of administrative studies & related duties. The Chief Clerk of Works oversees large-scale facility upgrades, assists in developing and managing State & Federal grants, and assists in the development & implementation of municipal & community wide programs. Additional responsibilities include conducting investigations/studies when necessary by transmitting, interpreting, and following up on project goals and timelines. An employee in this classification exercises considerable independent judgement in determining the best course of action during design and construction. Project timeliness and ability to keep to an anticipated budget are also essential. Work is subject to general or specific instructions and advice, depending upon the nature of the assignment. Project management, writing, research & analysis, project tracking, and data mining are all functions of this position.
The successful candidate will have considerable knowledge of report and procedure writing/editing; considerable knowledge of standard modern office practices, equipment, & software; the ability to analyze and make sound resolution recommendations to a variety of issues; the ability to carry out instructions effectively and efficiently; ability to exercise good judgement in applying and interpreting policies and procedures; ability to express ideas effectively, both written and verbally; ability to establish & maintain good working relationships with other employees, city officials, and the general public; the ability to work with diverse populations.
SALARY RANGE: $83,569.20 – $100,475.05 annually, full-time
