The City of Worcester’s Department of Public Works & Parks Water Operations Division is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Storekeeper. The Assistant Storekeeper will perform both manual and clerical duties in office and supply operations. This position entails working with purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and purchasing contracts, as well as receiving, storing, distributing, inventorying and controlling all appropriate water supplies and materials. The Assistant Storekeeper prepares and maintains records, files, daily activity reports, work orders, charge memos, and service returns. Additional duties include answering telephone and responding to customer inquiries and complaints; communicating via radio with field crews to provide job-related information; entering, editing and updating data in computerized work order system.
This position works on a shift rotation schedule and will regularly be scheduled to work night shifts. The successful applicant must be able to work any eight (8) hours per day, any five (5) days per week, and any forty (40) hours per week; be able to work on weekends on a consistent basis (day and night shifts); be able and available to work overtime as necessary (required, as-needed); be able to lift and move heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and have computer proficiency, including use of data input, record keeping, and use and maintenance of databases.
SALARY RANGE: $16.22 - $21.50 hourly, full-time
