The Department of Public Works & Parks seeks applicants for the position(s) of Golf Course Ranger to assist in the enforcement of golf course rules, regulations, and operation policies in order to effectively move players around Green Hill Golf Course. Rangers are at all times ambassadors of good will at the course, through friendly and equitable enforcement of rules. This position monitors all players on the golf course by checking all golf registration receipts, keeping the pace of play in accordance with posted golf course pace rating, and informing players of breaches in course rules & regulations, as well as golf course etiquette practices. Rangers are also charged with ensuring the rotation and general upkeep of golf carts. Position is part-time seasonal, anticipated as 24 hours per week from April through November.
The successful candidate will have a general understanding of golf; strong verbal communications skills, and strong interpersonal skills; basic knowledge of fee structures; and knowledge of basic point-of-sale (POS) operations. Additionally, the qualified candidate will have the ability to work well with the public/patrons; to learn, understand, and enforce the rules and regulations of the golf course; ability to walk upwards of a mile; ability to lift, push, and/or pull up to 20lbs.; ability to work flexible hours, including holidays and weekends, as required. Shifts are between 6:00AM and dusk.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid MA Driver’s License
• Prior customer service experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work flexible hours
SALARY: $13.50 hourly, part-time, seasonal, non-benefitted.
