Senior Transportation Engineer

The Planning & Regulatory Services Division seeks to fill the position of Senior Transportation Engineer. This newly created position provides professional technical and administrative services related to the planning, design, implementation and operation of transportation infrastructure and services for the City of Worcester. The Senior Transportation Engineer works closely with other departments and agencies to collect and analyze data, conduct studies, assess traffic conditions, evaluate transportation safety, and develop recommended transportation improvements. The position focuses primarily on the planning, assessment, and conceptual design of the transportation system with a particular focus on complete streets and traffic calming. The Senior Transportation Engineer works in a professional office environment, and additionally conducts field work to assess site conditions and/or collect data.
The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience in the planning, design and operation of urban transportation modes, including walking, bicycling, transit and motor vehicles; familiarity with relevant traffic engineering and street design standards and contemporary urban transportation design guidelines; the ability to work collaboratively, with experience in public engagement and stakeholder coordination; the ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations; excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills; proficiency with personal computers and experience using the Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).
STARTING SALARY: $67,414 – $74,970 annually, excellent benefits package
