The City of Worcester’s Cable Services Division seeks to fill the role of Production Assistant. This position is involved in all aspects of video production for Government Access TV: including, but not limited to cablecast of public meetings; covering press events; updating and maintaining the electronic bulletin board; & videography and editing. The schedule for this position varies from week to week and will require the Production Assistant to work evenings and weekends as needed. Duties of Production Assistant include cablecast of live or taped public meetings/events; providing coverage of press events and meetings; and producing studio shows.

The successful candidate will have the basic knowledge and understanding of digital video archiving systems; the ability to work independently and be a self-starter; the ability to lift 40lbs; experience with Microsoft Office Suite Applications; experience with Non Linear Editing; technical A/V skills; creative skills (scriptwriting/storyboard concepts); proficiency with commercial broadcast video and audio systems; precision with typing and writing; experience with online and mobile broadcast; and a familiarity with both PC & Mac workstations.


  • Associate’s degree in television media, communications, or other related area
  • Two (2) years of experience in cable or broadcast television production
  • Post production editing skills


  • Bachelor’s Degree in television media, communications, or other related area
  • Experience with AVID Non Linear Editing System
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud experience – Premiere; After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and/or Animation
  • Government television production & operations experience, to include studio & field production skills
  • A background working with the Tightrope Cablecast and Carousel system

SALARY RANGE: $15.90 – $21.08 hourly, fulltime
