TECHNICAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT
CITY OF WORCESTER

The City of Worcester is seeking a Web Content Specialist/Communications Assistant responsible for creating, editing and/or acquiring textual content for posting to the City of Worcester’s Official Website, social media and digital and external communications. The Web Content Specialist/Communications Assistant will assist in the content development of the City’s website and will work closely with the City Manager’s Office, City departments, boards and commissions, etc., to ensure digital content is up to date, accurate, informative and engaging. In addition, this position will assist the City’s Media Specialist with the drafting of items for external communication, to include media advisories, press releases and presentations. Special event coordination of ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings, dedications, celebrations, assist with special cultural events and more is required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge and experience working with various technologies, including; Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and social networking sites
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to use initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines and procedures
• Ability to problem-solve, identify alternate solutions and communicate best practices
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbally, graphically, and in writing) with citizens, contractors, vendors, and City staff
• Ability to create positive working relationships with a diverse staff
• Ability to select and apply industry standard best practices
• Ability to consistently demonstrate sound ethics and judgment
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast paced work environment

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, digital communications, or equivalent
• Two – Three (2-3) years of experience in website content management
• Experience using and supporting a Web Content Management System (CMS)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

SALARY RANGE: $66,663.34 - $87,117.34 annually, full-time, with an excellent benefits package.
