The Division of Youth Opportunities is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Community Engagement Specialist. The Community Engagement Specialist will develop, evaluate, and supervise community engagement initiatives, policies, and goals for the Division of Youth Opportunities. This position requires a background in positive youth development, with a focus in community organizing. The Community Engagement Specialist is charged with developing communications, relations, and partnerships that align with the objectives of the Division. Additional duties include responding to community shifts/needs using considerable independent judgement, creativity, and initiative, and visiting offsite partners/stakeholders. The Community Engagement Specialist is a contributing thought partner of the division.

The qualified candidate will have exceptional leadership skills; strong oral and written communication skills; experience working with diverse populations; proven ability to work collaboratively with community partners and families; experience using Microsoft Office Suite, design platforms, & Google Docs; and proficiency with graphic design tools (ie: Canva, Adobe Reader, iMovie, Photoshop). Additional duties include working with community members and partners on initiatives and policies that involve youth, youth workers, and families; attending committee and coalition meetings; planning and facilitating professional development for youth-serving partners and staff; planning and leading community events; supporting production/development of new programs; managing/creating content for social media/division newsletter; drafting press releases; creating/managing systems to collect metrics for community engagement; facilitating outreach and onboarding of interns; supporting grant writing efforts; & planning professional development/training for division staff. This person in this position will work weekends/evenings as required.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Community Development, or related field; OR five (5) years of experience working with youth and families and/or community engagement/development
  • Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience
  • Valid MA Driver’s License & reliable transpiration


  • Knowledge of local youth serving agencies and other community resources that may serve the division’s youth and families

SALARY RANGE: $16.93 - $22.26 hourly, fulltime
