SENIOR ACCOUNT CLERK
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS & PARKS
CITY OF WORCESTER

The Department of Public Works and Parks seeks candidates for Senior Account Clerk for Utility Billing. This is a high intensity position in the Department of Public Works and Parks’ Water Billing Office. This position is responsible for performing necessary activities to prepare, process, and maintain water usage and water bills. Daily work involves, but is not limited to, daily phone contact with water customers concerning their billing questions and concerns; direct involvement with Treasurer’s Office in regards to payments; and outreach to customers in the form of call backs, emails and/or fax requests.

The successful applicant will have knowledge of bookkeeping and data processing procedures; knowledge of general office practices; knowledge of basic business accounting billing processes; excellent customer service skills; and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Additionally, the qualified candidate will have the ability to learn, understand, and follow written/verbal policies, procedures, and instructions; to quickly learn relevant information and systems; to solve problems according to written instructions of specifications; to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment; to work well independently as well as part of a team; and to maintain professionalism with challenging customers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma/GED or equivalent
  • Previous office experience working with financial information (billing, collections, payable/receivable, payroll, etc.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates degree in Business, Finance, or related field
  • Billing experience

SALARY RANGE: $15.90 - $21.08 hourly, fulltime
