The Executive office of Economic Development seeks applicants for the position of Assistant Chief Development Officer for Special Projects. The Assistant Chief Development Officer for Special Projects works within the Executive Office of Economic Development Divisions and reports to the Chief Development Officer. The Assistant Chief Development Officer for Special Projects is responsible for securing and overseeing grant opportunities specific to federal, state and local funding; overseeing and implementing special projects consistent with the city’s economic development strategies and programs to achieve desired outcomes; and assisting in the oversight and management of land development projects, including significant public and private partnerships, public infrastructure, and private development projects. To accompany the aforementioned tasks, the Assistant Chief Development Officer will also be responsible for the review and approval of all administrative costs incurred by the division.
The successful applicant will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills; will have extensive knowledge of Federal and State grant opportunities and other programs related to economic development; extensive knowledge of Federal, State, and Local applicable statutes, regulations, and ordinances; and will have experience with property disposition and real estate development/finance. The qualified applicant will have demonstrated proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite; ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously; ability to work with boards, commissions, committees, and task forces; and proven ability to work with diverse organizations and interests.
Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration or an equivalent master craftsman level of trade knowledge in a related field; a minimum of seven to ten (7-10) years related work experience preferably in public administration or economic development or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Master’s degree in business, finance, public administration / policy, legal studies, or equivalent plus a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience in the public sector in a mid- to large-city setting. At least five (5) years of experience in grant management including Federal and State grant programs.
SALARY RANGE: $79,980.36 - $ 123,078.81 annually, full-time, excellent benefits package.
