RECREATION WORCESTER PROGRAM NURSE

The Recreation Worcester Program Nurse will evaluate and treat youth and staff for minor injuries and illnesses. He/she will supervise and implement medication policies and procedures during program, as well as keep a log of health-related interactions, give supportive advice to youth workers as needed, and identify serious health problems that require a physician’s attention. Additionally, the Program Nurse will refer families and youth to community health-related resources as needed, in order to ensure wrap-around and long-term care is being established for youth.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, will be a registered Nurse (licensed in the State of Massachusetts); will have outstanding bedside manner, friendly, personable and trauma-informed approach; will have strong assessment abilities; will have prior experience working with children of diverse backgrounds; and have a genuine interest in working with children with special needs. The qualified candidate will have the ability to adapt to different environments and schedules; ability to interact with youth ages 7-13 with varying ability levels; ability to interact with Youth Workers ages 16-24; ability to build relationships and networking skills with students, colleagues, and community members; ability to provide and receive constructive feedback; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.

• Previous experience working with youth
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to pass CORI/SORI check
• Must have an updated physical in the past 12 months
• Experience working with children and families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic backgrounds and abilities
• Trauma-informed professional development training
STARTING SALARY: $35.00 per hour, part-time, temporary, non-benefitted
