CUSTOMER SUPPORT ASSISTANT
HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT
CITY OF WORCESTER

The City of Worcester is seeking to fill multiple Customer Support Assistant positions to direct and assist visitors in municipal buildings. The Customer Support Assistants will ensure common areas, counters, door handles, etc. are kept clean in city buildings. Duties include:

  • Assist and direct the public/building monitor;
  • Assist the public with self-service computer kiosks;
  • Disinfect common areas and equipment such as counters, computers, door handles etc.;
  • Receive and issue pre-ordered documents from various departments for the public;
  • Ensure compliance with social distancing signage and markers.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Qualified candidates will have demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Excellent, communication, interpersonal and computer skills are needed.
  • Ability to assist with self-service computer stations.
  • Ability to work professionally and cooperatively with the public, all levels of staff, and diverse populations.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and good judgment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prior experience with walk-in customer service.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Experience using computers and online programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three (3) years of experience with walk-in customer service.

SALARY: $14.00 per hour, temporary (approx. 40 hours per week), non-benefitted.
