The Security Guard patrols and safeguards City owned parks, facilities, beaches, pools, open field spaces and Hope Cemetery. The position enforces rules and regulations, educates the public, and answers questions on proper use of parks. Other duties may include parking enforcement using electronic ticketing device, report writing, record keeping, use of permitting software and ready maps. Additional duties may include first aid response, crowd control, and ability to effectively manage high risk situations. Candidates must be able to work days, nights and holidays, and must successfully pass CORI.

The successful applicant will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience providing customer service; experience using hand held radios and operating communication systems; experience with Microsoft Office Suite. The qualified candidate will have the ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations; to read and interpret geographic and street maps; to work outside and be exposed to all weather conditions; stand for long periods of time and walk/hike long distances; ability to lift up to 60 pounds; and must be willing to become First-Aid and CPR/AED certified within 6 months of employment.

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent
• Three (3) years’ experience as a security guard that includes regular patrolling of locations
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience using hand held radios
• Ability to read and interpret geographic maps and street maps
• Must be able to pass criminal background check (CORI)
• Valid MA Driver’s License

• Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or related field
• Certified First-Aid and CPR/AED
• Certified First Responders (EMR)

SALARY RANGE: $18.54 - $25.51 hourly, fulltime, excellent benefits package.
