PLANNING ANALYST
PLANNING & REGULATORY SERVICES DIVISION
CITY OF WORCESTER

Planning and Regulatory Services, a Division of the Executive Office of Economic Development, seeks applicants for the position of Planning Analyst. This position is responsible for supporting a variety of planning activities involving subjects such as land use, zoning, development review, urban design, and comprehensive planning. This position provides professional and technical assistance to Boards and Commissions, including the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals. Attendance at evening meetings (typically 2 meetings per month) is required.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of city/urban planning;
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations, organizations, and interests;
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills;
  • Be a self-starter who can work well both independently and in team environments;
  • Proficient with personal computers, including but not limited to the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and GIS mapping and analysis.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in city or regional planning, civil engineering, geography, architecture, landscape architecture, or other related discipline.
  • Two (2) years of experience applying planning principles and techniques in a professional setting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in city or regional planning, civil engineering, geography, architecture, landscape architecture, or other related discipline (May be substituted for two (2) years of required experience).
  • Prior customer service experience (working with the public).

SALARY RANGE: $53,096 - $60,276 annually, full-time, non-exempt, with an excellent benefits package.
