Parking Restrictions

Street Sweeping Operations

Street sweeping happens twice a year; in the fall and in the spring. Employees of the Department of Public Works & Parks post NO-PARKING signs on each street at least one day in advance of cleaning operations. Once the NO-PARKING signs have been posted, the prohibition remains in effect on both sides of the posted street until the signs are removed by the City. When cleaning operations are complete, the signs are removed by DPW&P as soon as possible.

For more information about the street sweeping program please visit the DPW&P Street Sweeping page or call the DPW&P Customer Service Center at (508) 929-1300.

Winter Parking Ban

The Winter Parking Ban is designed to keep streets open, safe and essential traffic moving during snow storms. There are two types of Winter Parking Ban: Permanent and Declared.

Those streets marked and posted as Permanent will, on December 1st, be restricted from parking on one or both sides of those streets between 2:00 AM and 6:00 AM.

All other public streets (residential) have no winter restriction until the Commissioner of DPW&P Declares the Winter Parking Ban to be in effect. You can expect the winter parking ban to go into effect whenever inclement weather is forecasted. At that time the "No Parking Side" restriction will go into effect until such time as the Commissioner calls-off the ban.

For more information about the Winter Parking Ban and the streets affected please visit the DPW&P Winter Parking Ban page, or call the DPW&P Customer Service Center at (508) 729-1300.
