Geographic Information System (GIS)

The Geographic Information System (GIS) section supports City of Worcester departments and divisions by assisting users, consulting on projects and providing access to GIS data. Assessing, Fire, Public Works, Election Commission and Inspectional Services are some of the offices directly served. In addition, applications which integrate with the GIS, such as ViewPermit, Customer Service Request System, Property Analysis, Pavement Management and CrimeView, have been implemented.

The public has access to GIS maps and data in a variety of ways.

Maps available on the City Website to view, download or print include:

In addition, an interactive map helps citizens to locate Fire Hydrants & Catch Basins to keep them clear of snow and debris.

Digital Data Request

Individuals interested in GIS data have two options. Datasets may be downloaded directly from our Open Data Site in the following formats: CSV file, KML or ESRI’s shapefile format. API support is also available with a GeoJSON or GeoService.

GIS data may also be requested via our Digital Data Request Form. The form details our available data layers, deliverable formats and associated costs. Please fill it out completely and mail with your check to the following address:
