Incident Phases

Emergency Management is a strategic process that incorporates several different preparedness concepts to better increase readiness and response. Emergency Management policies are guided by basic principles. Among these principles are the mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery phases that are included in the Emergency Management Wheel. This model represents the sequence of phases of emergency incidents and therefore describes the events that occur before, during and after an event.
