How do I find out what the correct zoning is for a particular district?

An inspector will look-up the zoning district and advise you of the zone.

What are the allowed uses under the zoning ordinance for a particular district?
 A:

This varies and the "group tables" of the zoning ordinance will define the uses.

Q:
What is the earliest time I can get my construction inspected?
 A:

The building inspector for your area will set up an appointment for your inspection at the earliest possible time.

Q:
Why are Certificates of Inspection required for some residential buildings?
 A:

The MA Building Code requires regular safety inspections of emergency lighting and egresses for residential property over 4 dwelling units.

Q:
What are the building code requirements for my particular project?
 A:

Each project is unique and a building inspector will be happy to review your specific project with you and explain all the details of the code.

Q:
Can I file a complaint if I think there is a violation of the building code or zoning ordinance?
 A:

You can file a complaint with this office and an inspector will investigate and determine if a violation is occurring. Action will be taken based on the results of the inspection.
