Trash & Recycling

DPW&P's Trash & Recycling Division assures proper disposal of residential solid waste efficiently and economically. In addition, recycling bins are collected every week on your regular trash collection day. Citizens of Worcester can dispose of household waste via our Yellow Trash Bag program by purchasing official City of Worcester trash bags at various local retailers throughout the city. To find the closest retailer that sells Yellow Trash Bags, please view the City Trash Bag Retailers List (27KB).

A recycling bin can be obtained at the DPW&P Customer Service Center located at 76 East Worcester Street Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM. Please be sure to bring proof of residency with you. New residents will receive one bin free of charge; a resident who brings in their damaged bin will receive a new bin for exchange. Any bin that has been lost or stolen will cost $5.00. Up to two additional bins can be purchased per household for $5.00 per additional bin.

In addition, the City has partnered with Casella Waste Systems to provide the new "Zero Sort" recycling, which means that you do not have to separate your recyclables! Check out our Video PSA to learn more about Zero Sort.
