1) Donker Farm
Address: 0, 48R and 50 Tory Fort Lane
Area: ~23 Acres
Owner: Formerly Elisabeth Donker; Currently Greater Worcester Land Trust
CR Holder: City of Worcester Conservation Commission
CR Purchased: April 28, 2015
This Conservation Restriction protects the last operating farm in Worcester as well as a managed forest and associated rich habitat. The farm is the last remaining link to the City's 18th Century origins as a rural agricultural community. The allowed uses of the land include trail-based activities (hiking, biking, skiing), wilderness activities (wildlife viewing, camping), historic/cultural/environmental education, community agriculture and approved timber management or agriculture.
The project is a critical missing link to the "Four Town Greenway" in the northwestern portion of the City and directly abuts the Cook's Connector parcel to the north (~6 acres), with Cook's Pond to the west (~37 acres) and an additional 536+ acres of preserved open space in neighboring towns within close proximity.
