The Cable Services Division is responsible for receiving and processing cable complaints, monitoring compliance with the cable operator and Public, Education and Government Access entities and operating the Government Access Channel. This includes providing coverage of City Council meetings, Standing Committee meetings and press conferences, along with creating original programming that provides insight and information on the city government process. The Cable Services Division reaches out and collaborates with other departments and divisions to create informational video programs or announcements highlighting their specific role or issues in city government.
In addition to normal listings of public meetings and events, Cable Services also posts accurate and timely information on the Electronic Bulletin Board. This includes information on services such as Winter Parking Ban notices, Spring Street Sweeping schedules, etc.
Lastly, the Director of Cable Services serves as staff liaison to the Cable Advisory Committee and administers and keeps records of the committee.
- After consultation with the Cable Television Advisory Committee, the director will make recommendations annually to the City Manager as to the disbursement of the funds received under the cable franchise agreement among the public, education and government channel operations.
- Coordinate as necessary with the director of Technical Services to ensure that any institutional network provided under any cable franchise agreement operates properly and meets the technical requirements of the City for the internal transmission of data.
