Worcester, MA (January 31, 2011) - The anticipated heavy snow, followed by periods of mixed precipitation, present an ongoing threat for localized street and basement flooding, as well as roof collapses. All citizens and businesses are encouraged to monitor and help clear storm drains and catch basins in their neighborhoods during this storm to minimize local flooding problems from this run-off. After the storm, snow not cleared off of roofs acts as a sponge, absorbing any additional sleet and rain, contributing to stress on structures.
