Kathleen M. Toomey

Kathleen M. (Kate) Toomey of 50 Ideal Road is Manager of Business Development for Autumn Village Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She is a former elementary and secondary school teacher in the Boston Public Schools. Kate is serving her sixth two-year term as a Councilor-At-Large. She previously served three two-year terms as a member of the Worcester School Committee.

She is a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy in Boston. She received a BA in Art/Education from Regis College, Weston and earned graduate credits in Public Administration from Northeastern University, Boston.

As Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Public Safety, she and her committee members consider all matters pertaining to criminal and civil law enforcement, public safety communications services and ambulance and first responder services in the City.

Councilor Toomey believes that community policing and special efforts to protect the public's safety should be our highest priority. She also considers efforts to promote business expansion within the city limits and initiatives to improve the quality of life to be areas of priority.

She is married to Stephen R. Toomey and is the mother of two daughters, Mary Kate and Ruth Tinsley, and one son Richard Stephen II.
