Agendas & Minutes
In the State of Massachusetts, M.G.L. Chapter 30A, Sections 18-25 state all governmental bodies must have meetings that are open to the public and readily available to anyone who wishes to attend.
The Massachusetts Open Meeting Law applies to governmental entities at the state and local levels. In general the Law requires that meetings of such entities be open to the public, that notice of such meetings be publicly posted at least 48 hours prior to a meeting (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays and except in an emergency) and that accurate records of the meeting be kept and made available to the public.
The City Clerk acts as the Clerk of the City Council by preparing the agendas for their meetings and those of the Standing Committees of the City Council. The Clerk's signature is required for all actions of the City as to orders, ordinances and appropriations. In addition, the Clerk is charged with posting agendas and minutes for non-council public agencies, as well as those for the Worcester Public Schools.
Generally, the City Council meets weekly on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM in the Council Chamber on the third floor of City Hall. During the summer months of July and August, the City Council meets three times. Meeting Schedule (64KB)
