    Worcester Celebrates Black History Month

    The Worcester Senior Center African American Elder Group will host a program recognizing Shirley Frances Barrow Carter, E.D., Audrey Elizabeth Barrow Brown, B.A., M.S.N. and Mary Eliza Mahoney (posthumously), who in 1952, became the first black registered nurses to graduate from Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing.

    The Worcester Senior Center is a bright, welcoming place for all seniors, their families and caregivers, elder service providers and the community at large. Approximately one mile from City Hall, the Center has ample on-site, free parking. There is a strong emphasis on health and wellness programming, in addition to fitness, intergenerational events, support groups, arts & crafts classes, multi-cultural programs, computer classes and various other educational and recreational activities.
