Special Requirements for Nomination
|
One member shall be a resident of the Montvale Historic District and one member shall be a resident of the Massachusetts Avenue Local Historic District.

|
Board/Commission Functions
|
-
Issuing certificates of appropriateness, certificates of non-applicability, and certificates of hardship with respect to construction or alteration of buildings and structures within the local historic districts when such construction or alteration affects exterior architectural features;

Conducting research about places of historical interest and coordinating with activities of unofficial bodies organized for similar purposes;

Cooperating with and advising the Planning Board, the Worcester Redevelopment Authority, the Executive Office of Economic Development, and other City agencies on matters involving historic sites and buildings;

Cooperating with and enlisting assistance for the City from the National Park Service, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and other agencies, public and private, concerned with historic sites and buildings;

Advising owners of historic buildings in Worcester on issues of preservation;

Determining the appropriateness of waiving the delay automatically invoked when historic structures in the City are to undergo planned demolition or exterior alteration.
