Worcester to Recognize National Human Trafficking Awareness Day with Rally

Worcester, MA (January 6, 2016) - In recognition of National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, the City Manager's Advisory Committee on the Status of Women has partnered with local organizations to host an outdoor rally.

The rally will take place on Monday, January 11, 2016 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM on the front steps of City Hall, 455 Main Street.

The rally serves to educate people about sexual exploitation of women in the City as both a public health problem and a matter of women's rights. Human trafficking, also known as sexual and labor exploitation, is illegal in the United States.

Selected speakers will address the ongoing efforts of the City to end sexual exploitation. Speakers include: City officials, a local survivor, representatives from the Worcester Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation (WAASE), the Worcester Police Department and the Woo Church.

The event is free and open to the public. Free resource information and hot coffee will be distributed.
