Worcester Announces 7th Annual Out to Lunch Summer Concert Series & Farmers' Market

For Immediate Release: 6/17/2016 11:08 am

Worcester, MA (June 17, 2016) - The City of Worcester and the Worcester Cultural Coalition are pleased to announce the seventh installment of the wildly popular Out to Lunch Summer Concert Series & Farmers’ Market. This year, the concerts will kick off on Thursday, June 23rd and will continue throughout the summer to August 25th.

Building upon programming in the past, the public is invited to enjoy ten free, live concerts of various genres running from Noon to 2:00 PM. To showcase additional local talent, the series will continue to showcase local community groups during intermission. In addition, area restaurants, farmers and crafters will sell their very finest of goods to workers and the general public.

The series not only showcases local talent and business, but provides an opportunity for everyone to enjoy the ever-changing and beautified Worcester Common. The City has invested more than $10 million into the Common and surrounding infrastructure over the past several years, and with new programming being added all the time, this venue remains to be the perfect home for a downtown, summer concert series.

"Whether you work downtown or are coming for a visit, Out to Lunch is the perfect way to spend a summer afternoon," said City Manager Edward M. Augustus, Jr. "Young or old, everyone can enjoy music, great food, crafts in a welcoming family-friendly setting on the newly-renovated Worcester Common."

"Can you imagine a world without music and good local food? I can't. Worcester believes that everyone deserves an opportunity to experience live music. It's what brings our city to life," noted Erin Williams, Cultural Development Officer for the City.

As of June, Out to Lunch is sponsored in part by the City of Worcester, Worcester Cultural Coalition, with additional support from Discover Central MA, Home Depot, Polar Beverages and Immedia; and media sponsors including WICN Radio, Worcester Regional Transit Authority, Worcester Telegram and Gazette and Charter TV3.
