Worcester, MA (October 27, 2010) - Location, Inc., owner and operator of Neighborhood Scout Reports and NeighborhoodScout.com, a national neighborhood data source and search engine, will re-locate its corporate headquarters from Woonsocket, Rhode Island to 86 Shrewsbury Street in Worcester.
The company, which was founded in 2000 and launched NeighborhoodScout.com in 2002, was borne of university research, specializing in nationwide relocation software, retail site selection and real estate investment advising. Today, NeighborhoodScout.com is the most widely-used neighborhood search engine in the world, serving more than 9.4 million homebuyers and businesses since its creation. The company uses patented search technology and exclusive data to build neighborhood profiles that allow individuals and families to instantly find the best neighborhoods for them, simply by entering what they want (e.g., good schools, crime rates, types of neighbors, and up to 50 other criteria) in any part of the United States they choose.
Dr. Andrew Schiller, creator of Neighborhood Scout Reports and a Clark University graduate, said, "the City of Worcester made our search easy. They met with us in person to assess our needs, toured neighborhoods and even contacted building owners in our select neighborhoods to inquire about open office space. They treated us like family. A city is all about its people, and the City’s Economic Development Team truly made us feel welcome."
The company currently has two employees, a raft of contractors and intends to hire at least two more employees by the end of this year after relocating to Worcester.
"I’m pleased that Dr. Schiller and his team have chosen to invest in our community," said City Manager Michael V. O’Brien. "Worcester offers a solid foundation for growth of businesses of all sizes and across all industry sectors, and is an ideal location for Location Inc. to flourish."
Dr. Schiller added, "In order to grow our technology company, our greatest resource is access to a rich pool of highly trained statisticians, geographers, IT sales, and IT professionals. Worcester’s assets, such as good public transportation, interstate highway access and amenities for young professionals, will help us to attract talented employees. Shrewsbury Street stood out and is the ideal location for our company’s needs."
