Worcester, MA (July 30, 2010) - Effective Tuesday, August 3, 2010, the Fire Prevention Division will be relocated to 25 Meade Street, where it will share space and resources with the Department of Inspectional Services. This move allows for the operation of a single "point-of-sale" service desk for customers, shared administrative services for the issuance of permits and licenses and cross-training of inspectors (both civilian and fire).
The physical merging of the Fire Prevention Division and Inspectional Services Department, in addition to the citywide implementation of the new permitting software, is all part of a continued push to improve services to our citizens, organizations and businesses as we also adapt to leaner and leaner times with fewer and fewer available resources.
